How to Make Custom Mylar Bags: From Raw Materials to Finished Packaging
The process begins by selecting quality raw materials which are often used when making custom Mylar bags. Mylar bags are produced by using a combination of several layers of film to create an effective structure, which would consist of a polyester layer, an aluminum foil layer, and the inner layer composed of a food safe sealant material (depending on the intended use of the Mylar Bag). Each layer is then used to perform multiple functions within the overall production of the Mylar Bag itself.
To produce Mylar Bags, films first must be extruded separately, and after they are extruded they will be laminated together by heat and/or adhesive-laminate methods. After the films have been laminated together, they will create one piece of laminated film creating strength, barrier protection, as well as flexibility of the Mylar Bag.
After the film has been laminated together, the film will then be rolled and prepared for application with custom graphics. The printing process will depend on how many Mylar Bags are needed as well as how complicated the design is but it will be performed with either gravure or digital printing processes. Care must also be taken during the printing process to ensure that the inks do not interfere with either the sealing of the Mylar Bag or the food contact layers.
Once the film has been printed, the film is then cut to create the shapes of the Mylar Bags. This involves making the front and back panels, making gussets, if needed, and sealing the bottom of the bag. This step is critical to ensure that Mylar Bags are created uniformly and that they are also structurally sound.
After the production of the Mylar Bags and the application of the functional features such as zippers, hang holes, and tear notches is complete, the final step in the production of Custom Mylar Bags is Quality Control (QC) which involves validating that the Mylar Bags created during this process meet the required quality standards as well as the specific quality codes.
